Mount Apo Resident: The Philippine Monkey Eating Eagle

The Philippine Monkey Eating Eagle

The Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) is among the tallest, rarest and most powerful birds in the world. It is a bird of prey known to the local dialect as "Haribon" or "Bird King".

The Philippine Eagle can be found in the rain forests of the Philippine islands, but the largest number of eagles reside on Mindanao in the forest of Mount Apo.
